Isaac Weston transforms reclaimed metals into contemporary artworks that reveal light, texture, and patina. His process blends artistry and alchemy, using acids, salts, and sunlight to unlock the hidden beauty of copper and create vibrant, shifting surfaces. Inspired by natural patterns and processes, his evolving pieces evoke landscapes, water, and organic forms.
From his Matua studio in the Bay of Plenty, Isaac creates distinctive sculptures and wall art that celebrate raw materials and their connection to the natural world. His work has been featured in NZ House & Garden and Your Home & Garden (2023), is represented in galleries nationwide, and includes permanent installations in public spaces such as the Tauranga Historic Village, Te Puna Quarry Park, and the Tauranga Racecourse.
With nine years of experience as a full-time artist, Isaac has exhibited at Tauranga’s Incubator Gallery, The Mandarin Tree Gallery, and Matter Gallery, earning acclaim for his striking sculptures and wall art, known for their rich patina finishes. His work has been featured in magazines and on television. In 2024, four of his large-scale pieces were commissioned for the SkyCity Horizon Hotel in Auckland, where they are now permanently displayed. Together, these achievements reflect his growing presence in New Zealand’s contemporary art scene and the enduring appeal of his work.
