Omaha Bay Vineyard’s red wines are full of flavour. They are perfect on their own or you can enjoy them alongside our Cellar Door Menu.

OBV 'Olivia' Montepulciano / Syrah (Matakana)

A full bodied and densely coloured Montepulciano/Syrah.  Aromas of sweet dark fruits and spice. A well-structured wine with flavours of black cherry/chocolate. Serve with pasta or beef.

OBV Syrah (Matakana)

Densely coloured single vineyard syrah has been aged in French Oak. It has aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and spicy pepper, complimented by great depth and complexity. 

OBV Montepulciano (Matakana)

The 2015 vintage produced a full-bodied and dark ruby coloured Montepulciano. Aromas of sweet dark fruits, spice and tar. A well structured wine with flavours of black cherry/chocolate. 

OBV Cabernet Franc / Malbec / Petit Verdot (Matakana)

Aromas of plums, cherries & dark berries. The palate has multi-layered fruit flavours with tannins & a long finish. 

Petit Verdot (Matakana)

Floral violets and berry on the nose with a palate of juicy berries and soft silky tannins, compliment the slightly spicy oak complexity at the finish. This wine has versatility to accompany almost any dining situation. Try with beef, roast pork, game or matured cheddar.

Malbec (Matakana)

Deeply coloured inky red.  Dark berry, anise/spice and appealing floral notes with impressive richness and warmth.  A very concentrated Malbec with rich intense berry, spice and licorice flavours.

Cabernet Franc (Matakana)

Aromas of plums, cherries & dark berries with a hint of spice. The palate has multi-layered fruit flavours with tannins & a long finish. This full bodied dry red wine is at its best with roast lamb/beef or pasta dishes.

Sangiovese (Matakana)

Deep ruby colour, with aroma of dark berries and spice. Berry and plum with liquorice notes and a well integrated structure

Port (100mls) (currently sold out)

This classic port was made using traditional techniques the same as used by my grand parents and great grand parents who arrived in NZ from Croatia between 1902 and 1913. This complex “fortified” port has been aged in oak Barriques for 6 years to produce a Tawney style port which is deeply coloured with coffee/spice aromas and sweet fruit flavours and velvety texture.

White Wines

Our delightful and refreshing selection of white wines are equisite all on their own or they can be savoured alongside our food recommendations.

OBV Flora 'The Imposter' (Matakana)

A lightly fragrant wine with hints of citrus peel, marmalade and stone fruit.  The Impostor is semi-sweet in flavour with a crisp fine finish.  Serve as an aperitif or with soft cheese and fruit or fruit based desserts.

OBV Pinot Gris (Matakana)

A wine with a medium weight palate and a fresh dry finish with hints of pear, toffee, citrus and nutty aromas, this Pinot Gris is a complex food styled wine. Serve with seafood, white meats, veal or pork. 

OBV Rose (Matakana)

Handcrafted from Syrah, this wine  is produced in limited quantities. Cool fermentation has created a quality, fruit focused wine.  A pale rose colour, it has a fresh and fruity nose with subtle floral notes.  Vibrant spice and strong fruit on the palate with juicy soft persistent and refreshing flavours.

OBV Chardonnay (KUMEU)

This rich and enticing wine is a classic example of New Zealand Chardonnay with peaches and cream complimented by a tropical palate of paw paw, pineapple and passion fruit balanced by a touch of French Oak.

Flora Avec Bulles (Flora with Bubbles).  A lightly fragrant wine with hints of fresh apple, lively and well balanced.  FAB is a celebration of natural sweetness, with a crisp lingering finish.  Enjoyable and refreshing.

Rich, tangy and classically herbaceous, this is a fresh and full-bodied wine with generous gooseberry passion fruit, tropical and melon flavours backed by a crisp finish. This classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with seafood and green salads.
