Tessa has been painting and selling her work for over fifteen years. She is influenced by a combination of classical realism, mastery of traditional painting, and contemporary photography. She is known for her still life compositions and portraits in oil paints.
 In 2024 Tessa was shortlisted for the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Adam Portraiture Award. This is the most prestigious portrait competition in New Zealand.
Her method involves a careful crafting of layered, fine details and exaggerated contrasts to add depth and interest. She is trained as an environmental scientist and applies a similar analytical precision and appreciation for natural beauty to her artworks.
 Her works are held in private collections and commercial spaces around New Zealand. She is currently based in Wellington with her partner and young daughter, and have family based in Matakana.
